Review:
Usually when I get to listen a new Hungarian Black Metal band it is a melodic, atmospheric or ambient one, but in this case things are different since Komor Romok (Hungarian for gloomy ruins Google translate tells me) are swimming in way more brutal waters. This is the band's debut EP and so far only release, a 4 tracks effort clocking 15 minutes of brutal, uncompromising, fast paced, evil Black Metal that reminds me of the South American scene to be exact. The echoes added to the screams here are the only trace of atmosphere if we don't consider the guitar riffs, but apart from that there are no keys or other melodic instruments to enrich the soundscapes, this is pure, raw, hateful and primitive Black Metal, but unfortunately this is not enough for the band to make a name for themselves outside of Hungarian borders since there are countless other bands playing like this all over. The third tracks's guitar riff reminded me a lot of Ancient's Svartalvheim, a more brutal version of it nonetheless, but you get the point. By now it's about time the band follows up with a new release and brings something of their own to the table, but in the meantime this is a good occasion to meet a non typical Hungarian Black Metal band. Released on professional tape with matte factory printed cover in limited edition by Fekete Terror.
