Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
We started in 2008 and we used to be called Krom. We kept that name until 2012. The main reason we changed the name was because we were getting confused with other bands of the same name. A friend of ours named Dozer was going to start a band called Gravehuffer but his band never got off the ground. We threw around a bunch of names that were OK but nothing stuck. One of the guys said we should ask Dozer to use the name Gravehuffer. So we asked him and he agreed to let us use the name as long as we gave him some free merchandise. So we give him a free shirt every now and then. We’ve had a few lineup changes since we started but the lineup now is myself Ritchie on guitar, Mike Jilge on bass, Jay Willis on drums and vocals, and our new singer Travis McKenzie.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our style is all over the place. We often get compared to lots of thrash and crossover bands as well as some grindcore, death metal, and punk bands. We typically just say that we are extreme music. As far as influential bands that depends on who you ask in the band. For myself I listen to a lot of classic heavy-metal such as Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, and 80s thrash metal like Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, and into the early 90s death metal like Morbid Angel, Carcass, and Napalm Death.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Interesting question. Personally I like our music because there’s a lot of variety in it and we try not to repeat ourselves so if you like that adventurous style then we’re a good fit for you. We like to think we have something for everyone.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
So far we released two full length album’s Blasphemusic and Your Fault, and a 2 song EP on vinyl and each one has had its own audience so to speak. The first album definitely has more punk vibes to it, and the next album there was more of the mix of punk and metal. The reviews that we’ve got for each album have all been fairly positive and it seems that each release gets slightly better reviews each time.

Do you play live as well? How’s your live activity so far?
Yes we do play lots of live shows. I’d say in the hundreds by now. We’ve only played one show this year due to Covid. Next year we have a handful of shows already booked and hopefully we can book a few shows as well around them. Obviously the plan is to play shows to support the New album NecroEclosion, Which comes out January 15. 

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
I think any zines or promoters that are interested in us should know that we work very hard we promote very well. We like to meet new people and network with other bands, promoters, venues etc. We always have a good attitude about playing live shows and interacting with other bands, the audience, promoters, and everyone involved that it takes to make a show successful. We always enjoy talking with other podcasters, interviewers, writers, bloggers etc. as it only helps us as well as them when we each share a common goal of spreading the word for each other.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
At the moment our plans are to get a new studio ready so we can have a place to rehearse and record the next record which we’ve already started writing for. We are also planning on doing a live stream video in the next couple of months probably in December. We have a place picked out and it’s only a couple hours drive and the person that’s going to do it for us has professional sound and video equipment and will be able to stream it on multiple platforms at the same time. After that we’ll definitely be rehearsing to start playing shows again in the spring of 2021 as well as promoting the new album that we just released in January.
