Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Eye of the Destroyer has been around since 2013. Most of the members have been playing together in various projects for almost ten years.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We are a product of our environment. We grew up on the gritty New York and New Jersey influenced death metal and hardcore. Our music has a lot of groove and tempo driven heaviness to it. We are influenced by bands like Irate, Suffocation, E town Concrete, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Black Sabbath and Pantera.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Because we are working hard with every release to perfect our craft. We are constantly touring and writing and always trying to get better at what we do. All the support we've received and continue to receive is what makes all of that possible for us. We can't thank people enough for the love they've showed us.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We have released 3 eps, a demo, and a full length. In doing that we were able to acquire a record label and distribution. We have gone through over 1,000 copies of our full length and about 1,000 copies of the eps and demo. It has gained us media coverage as well as opening doors for touring opportunities. We have had radio play in a lot of markets across the US which has created a lot of awareness and helped our numbers on tour a lot.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We play live as much as possible. We have been touring the east coast heavily for the last two years. We worked very hard to put together a west coast run last year and were able to headline shows as far as California and Texas. People showed up and went nuts which was fucking awesome! At this point we have played a good portion of the US and are looking to continue getting into new markets as much as possible.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We are a self sufficient, hard working band with a very good business model. We take what we do very seriously and understand that Rome wasn't built in a day. As a band we are always writing. Our current Ep is not scheduled for release until Feb. 2nd and we are already 15 songs in to writing a full length. We are marketed as a traveling party and in many ways thats exactly what we are but when it comes to being professional we are second to none.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We have a few shows coming up in support of our new Ep "Starved and Hanging". We will be traveling to North Carolina to hit the studio in early February to start recording our new full length which will have a huge budget behind it for promotion and touring so we are very excited about that!
