Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
The new album is called “Theogony.” It was released through Divebomb Records. I’m very happy with the final release! The music I think has a great amount of diversity and there’s a ton of fantastic guest musicians that appear across the album. I think there’s something on it that can be appreciated by many fans of music and especially fans of progressive rock and metal.
How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
I definitely see it as a blend of progressive rock and metal. I hope it’s unique enough to not be like anything you’ve heard before. However, there is definitely influences from some of my favorite acts, such as Opeth, Tool, Steven Wilson and Haken, that I think can be heard in some of the parts.
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
The majority of the material was recorded at Sumplace Studios in California. However, with all the guest musicians, many of them recorded their parts at their own home or local studios. The recording process was over a time span of 8 months or so, I believe, but the entire process from when the writing began to when the album was released was almost 3 years.
What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
Absolutely. The album is based on the 9 Muses of Greek mythology. Each track bears the name of one of the Muses and the lyrics are based on what that specific Muse represents. And the cover art is a depiction of those 9 Muses, which was actually painted by my Father, Edward Bosson.
What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
I think I’ve already gained a great amount from this release. The album has received a very positive response from media and fans. Prog-Sphere even named it #23 on their “Best Albums of 2017” list! The aims are always to just put out the best quality music possible that stays true to what I and the other musicians involved really love and are truly passionate about. When it receives the positive response it’s definitely a huge plus to the process to know that others out there identify with the music and can appreciate it as much as I do.
Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
The initial release was done on CD and digital formats. There are also a few left of a limited edition Blue Cassette Tape of the album, of which there were only 50 made! And soon we will release the album on a limited edition Vinyl, of which there will only be 100 copies pressed!
Where and how will you promote this new release?
The promotion I think has been covered pretty well with a fair amount of press releases, interviews and album reviews, but there can never be too much of things like that, so I hope they continue to come through. You can always stay up to date with any updates with the band on facebook at facebook.com/lunarbandofficial and on Instagram @lunarbandofficial.
Where can we order it from?
The album can be ordered in all it’s available formats, along with other merch at lunarbandofficial.bandcamp.com and CD’s are also available through Divebomb Records.
