Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
The band already excisted for a long time under another name. But some of the former band, like myself went to do different stuff and left. In 2011 we all came together for some kind of reunion and we haven't stopped since then. The band mainly excists of Walter on guitar, Tom on guitar (and also bass on the album), Thijs on drums and me (Hendrik) on vocals. We're currently trying to get a new bass player steamed up for some gigs.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
A lot of bands did... When you've reached the age of 50 and you have a wide interest in music then you can suppose that many influences will spice up your tunes. Of course the red wire thru' the story is heavy music but it comes in all colours and tones. And speaking about colours, we don't want to pin ourselves to one genre. I'd call our music groove metal with an alternative and progressive twist. Band names... Well I give you some: Pantera, Van Halen, Fates Warning, Primus, Foo Fighters... Maybe you won't hear it throughout a song but those artists surely shaped us in our musical thinking and composing.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Because I think there's a bit for everyone in there... Well not if you're a total black- or deathmetal fan of course but the music is real vivid and dynamic and there sure are some real heavy tunes followed by some more atmospheric passages. Sometimes it's mid pace, sometimes it's fast and then again we always have a certain groove into it. Something you can dance to in a matter of speaking. We don't do that deliberately, it's just comes out that way. I can see the ladies move their hips to our songs!
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
In 2013 we released our first album called 'Belief/Relief'. That was more or less a combination of songs written over a long period. Some songs were more accurate than others. The response to that album album was fair, let's say OK, no big deal. The second and new one provides all new compositions written over a period of 2 to 3 years. The reviews so far for this album are very uplifting.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We do play live occasionally. There's not really a big scene in Belgium and if there's something going on people rather go see cover bands than real genuine bands. But I guess that's what the majority of people wants, no matter what genre they listen to. They wanna hear the hits by the great artists. No offense but it's like they are afraid to discover something new or maybe they just don't wanna go out of their comfort zone. I know a few amazing musicians who will never be famous although they're making fabulous music. It's the machinery of the record companies behind it, that makes it difficult for smaller, good bands to step up. But hey, we've got nothing to lose, we know we won't conquer the world, that's up to the Metallicas and Guns 'n' Roses out there. Getting our music out is an achievement on it's own. Getting people to like it and to come and see us is even better!
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We're just a good grooving band with attractive music. Not your 13 in a dozen, not your everyday 'playing around the church tower' band. We have nice melodies and exciting tunes. And you can move and groove to it. I'm not saying we're original but we do have that little 'je ne sais quoi' like the French say, I think... But hey, don't all those other bands think that too?! :-)
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We're trying to be heard every now and then. It would be nice to have the opportunity to do some support for a bigger band or play a little festival where we can reach out to some new listeners! And actually we're eager to start making some more new music that we can share.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Our music is available through Spotify, Deezer, iTunes and Google Play. Or if music fans are really interested they can always buy a physical copy at our gigs or through our bandpage on Facebook, the internet on www.earupt.tk or mail us via earupt@gmail.com.
I should say 'Spread the news about us', Love & Peace!
