Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Jurekk formed Edge of Attack a few years ago, as a completely different idea. Back then I think they were playing death metal. He evolved the band into a thrash metal group with a dramatic line-up change, bringing Trevor Swain and Dallas Dyck on board. It was maybe a couple years before they began to shift toward a power metal style, which is when Jurekk brought me in for vocals. We began recording the album, and Denver was brought in shortly after that, before the album was finished. Truthfully, our history is fairly short.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our style is not something I would characterize with a few general titles. I can say that it's heavy, at times fast, melodic, and often riff-oriented. There have been varying opinions on what to call it in terms of power metal. It's difficult to list specific influences. We all have a diverse musical background in terms of what we grew up listening to. Even outside of metal bands, we seek influence and inspiration.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
What we strove to do was make a release that is entirely honest, original and palatable. There were no attempts at replication or imitation on our upcoming release. Our first hope is that our fans can discover something new with our music, but still feel rooted in the solid foundation of more traditional metal styles.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Thus far, we've only released a few singles. "Forever," came first and the response from our fans was so positive. We saw our fan base increase by ten times. It was surreal. After that, we released a few others, some for just a limited time, but the response has always been warm. Now that the album is soon to be released, we've been getting some media feedback and the reviews have been outstanding.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We played a short tour of western Canada after doing the first draft of the album last spring. There hasn't been a ton of activity because we've spent so much time in the studio, but that will all change when we step out for our national tour after the release.
What sould labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Edge of Attack is focused on being an original metal band and our main priorities are our music and our fans. Our fans come naturally and from all over the world because they love our sound.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Once our album is released, the first step is to get our Canadian tour underway. After that, we'd like to keep touring and keep writing. We're constantly writing new material. After Canada, we want to tour Mexico and South America. After that, who knows for sure, but there are still many places left to go.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Best places to go to hear our singles are our official website, www.edgeofattack.com, our Facebook page, or our Reverbnation profile. Once the album is available, you'll be able to get it from numerous digital vendors such as iTunes.
