Review:
Dalkhu is a band with a constantly changing line-up since their beginning in 2003; this third album sees the band as a trio, with J.G. who seems to be the only permanent (and original) member helped by Kalki (also an original member but who took a break at some point) and Lucerus from Cvinger as vocalist. 7 tracks clocking a bit over 40 minutes of playing time offering a melodic, quite technical, diversified, atmospheric Black Metal structured on a solid guitar skeleton, excellent drumming and highlighted by the solid vocals of Lucerus. This is already the third time I'm spining this and I'm still not bored, so I can easily say I pretty much like it. The only thing I'd change would be the vocals part: I'd keep the current vocals as they are but I would also add all sorts of backing vocal elememts to spice things up and become more expressive. Maybe also work a bit more on the drum programming as at times it sounds synthetic a lot. Lamentation and Ardent Fire is a good work, nothing seems out of scope here; not a groundbreaking album (it lacks of surprising / original elements), but definitely one to enjoy if you're into Atmospheric Black Metal. Released as gatefold Digipak CD by Godz ov War.
