Review:
Third studio album from Italian Zora, Soul Raptor is a 10 tracks beast clocking a bit over half an hour of playing time. Brutal Death Metal is the name of the game here, fast paced, exalted, unapologetic, relentless, based on old-school patterns of American origins, and lead by a double vocal line, traditional guttural vocals and totally demented screams that might seem too abrasive for some listeners. Actually this type of filling the whole time with brutal vocals gives the whole material even more aggression and makes you feel attacked all the time, there's only a small time to breathe at the end of the record, the last track being an instrumental. Overall the whole is quite technical reminding of bands like Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse or even Dying Fetus (yes, there's even plenty of groove all the place here), so I believe Zora's type of Brutal Death might appeal more to the already initiated, if you're a profane of the genre, you might think twice before giving this a spin. Bottom line Zora have produced their most brutal record to date, I'm sure they are proud of the outcome.
