Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
P: Paragon Zero was formed in 2011 by the hands of P in Miskolc, Hungary. For a quite long time the ones with the strings were constant but we had many drummers - later on everyone left and the band was rebuilt by Gravel S and P around 2018. Our current line-up is: Zasolth - vocals, WN - guitars, P - guitars, Andreas - bass and Gravel S - drums.
Gravel S: I have more or less constantly around the band as session drummer, from our earliest steps. Finally, regarding that we were long-time comrades with P long before even the formation of Paragon Zero, I had to recognize that by fate I am the fitting drummer for this act, so around our reformation in 2018 I have joined as full member. With this I believe we can lift our common dedication towards Nothingness to a higher level.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
P: We prefer the term Dark Metal. Anyhow, our music is a blend of black, heavy and doom metal with some melodic touches.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
P: Because she/he was stunned by our live performance, or fell in love with the artwork, maybe driven by the fact that our Death-inspired lyrics can bring some relief for those wounded by life.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
P: We released a demo (Timeless New Breed - 2013), a single (The Old Witch - 2019) and an EP (Omass - 2020) so far, the feedbacks were really good in general, but we don't do all this to impress others - the words needs to be spoken, the message must be sent!
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
P: Yes, we think it's an important cornerstone for all genres of music. In contrast to most metal acts we try to keep the distortion levels low, to enhance the melodic soundscape.
Gravel S: In Hungary there is a generally prosperous extreme metal underground, with many music fanatics as organizers, journalists and record labels who support our music. So in the past we got honorable occasions to play shows and as soon as current 2020's pandemic situations fade, we are ready to conquer further events with our music.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
P: We are happy to bring misery upon you - that's a warning!
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
P: We want to finish the work on our first full-length and have got released. It'd be nice to have a bunch of live shows but 2020 is not that good of a year for this purpose.
Gravel S: In the band there is a massive creative core so we are constantly bringing upon new ideas, both musically and non-musically. It's a natural process, the attic is always full of projects to unfurl so to say. The harder part is to finish them together but as said above, currently the world is not based on live concerts unfortunately, so we can focus on tasks that widen our future discography.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
P: Our music is available on all major digital platforms and physical copies can be ordered from Pest Records (https://pestrecords.bandcamp.com/) or Neverheard Distro (https://neverhearddistro.blogspot.com/)
