Review:
Damn, in my books this has to be one of the top Black Metal releases of the year, no doubt about it! I had no clue nor I was interested who the band was (the band's logo is not an easy one, I had no chance of getting the name from that...) before I placed the CD in my player, and here I am, 4 full rotations after that, starting to gather info on this release, that's how easy times passed listening to this piece of Black Metal art. So this is the band's second full-length album, a 6 tracks effort clocking a bit over 40 minutes of playing time, released in Digipak CD format by the always rising Epictural Productions. The album starts with the best track on it, which is an excellent choice; Chapitre 1 (all tracks are titled Chapters, from 1 to 6) has one of the catchiest guitar riffs I've heard in the last time, technical and repetitive. With a melodic, even dramatic atmosphere to it, the album is mostly fast rhythmed but well thought, expressive, story-telling, compelling as I didn't expect to tell you the truth. It reminds me of Marduk, but a far more dramatic type of Marduk-like guitar-based Black Metal with vocals full of hatred and venom, a spot on rhythm section and occasional slower, melodic parts to enhance the overall brutality. Awesome release, awesome band, I'm impressed to bits! What I don't like is the band's logo, almost impossible to get, and at the same time the fonts used in the 12 pages booklet for the lyrics, as well impossible to read, yet the artwork is generous, probably medieval art about death.
