Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
The band formed from members and ex members of the doom band My Silent Wake. We all three had a love of early gothic rock and so we decided to form Guillotine Dream. I have also played in the thrash band Seventh Angel, the doom bands Paramaecium and Ashen Mortality, gothic doom with Century Sleeper, industrial with Attrition and space rock with The Other Window.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Gothic rock and post punk inspired by Fields of the Nephilim, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, The Cult, Faith and the Muse, Joy Division, The Mission, The Damned, NFD, NMA, etc and also by other bands outside of that style such as Zeppelin and Sabbath. The songs are also inspired by the lives of gothic writers such as Edgar Allen Poe and by figures such as Tesla. Many of the songs also have Fortean themes as I am an avid reader of Fortean Times.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Because outside of folk and metal, gothic rock has the darkest and most atmospheric sound.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We have just released our third album 'Demigods'. We have also put two EPs out as well.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Yes we do. We have done around five or six gigs. We have started to be joined by a second guitarist Ash, who also played in MSW.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Because this is a niche area of music which never really went away although it isn't in the spotlight anymore. Gothic Rock as opposed to gothic metal uses very different sounds to create atmosphere; It was originally born from punk. The band Guillotine Dream started out as a bit of fun and escapism for us all and we didn't hold back on making things different, both with the image of the band and with the utter bullshit we came out with in the early days.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Playing live again and promoting the new album as well as getting down to some new writing.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
We are on Youtube, Bandcamp and Facebook. etc...
