Albatross first began as the solo project of bassist Riju Dasgupta, who wanted to create a band which merged his love for horror stories with metal. Over a period of time, he quickly discovered like minded musicians and soon went to work on Albatross's debut EP- Dinner is You. A dream project of the bassist, he soon managed to collaborate with two of his childhood idols on the album- Andy LaRocque mastered the CD whereas Snowy Shaw helped the band out with album art. The album was launched by India's premier record label Demonstealer Records and has been recieving praise from across the world. There have been a flurry of lineup changes, but as it stands Shrikant and Vignesh are the band's twin guitar duo, Jay Thacker is the band's powerhouse drummer while Biprorshee Das is responsible for the extremely high banshee wails, while bassist Riju Dasgupta completes the lineup with his fretless bass and blood covered labcoat.

The band calls it's music horror metal; which means that every song is a horror story told through metal. While bassist Riju Dasgupta started the band after being influenced by King Diamond's concept albums, everyone in the band has their own influences ranging from Wolf, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Dream Theater, Opeth, Lamb of God, RAM, Mercyful Fate, Pyramaze, Iced Earth, Necrophagist, etc. Judas Priest is probably the only band all of us worship.

Quite simply because it sounds awesome, it's more entertaining than 99% of the albums out there, it's been mastered by frikking Andy LaRocque and because there's a cannibal in all of us.

Albatross released 'Dinner is You' through Demonstealer Records worldwide on 26th September, 2010 and it has sold hundreds of copies in a very short span of time. The album deals with a very unconventional concept- the Kuru disease, which is a laughing disease which affects cannibals. The album follows the story of a man simply known as the master, who's suffering from the disease as he battles everything from his condition to the legal system...check it out before I reveal too much. The album's been recieving awesome reviews from across the world...you only have to do a google search to find out how good the reviews have been.

We supported our label mates Devoid and Dubai metal monsters Nervecell on a 2 city promotional tour in India. Due to an unstable lineup, we'd taken a brief break from playing live, but we're coming back soon...loud and (no pun intended) frighteningly loud.

We're already signed to a label in India. But we're looking forward to licensing deals across the world. We offer a fresh new sound which blends the old school sound in a modern, heavy package with spine chilling stories. We're young, we're fresh, and we're out to conquer the world.
