Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
We recently unleashed 'Storm Is Coming' upon the metal world. It's our second full-length album released by German record label CYCLONE EMPIRE and it contains 10 tracks of our furious yet melodic Blackened Heavy/Thrash metal. The album turned out really good as we succeeded in writing better songs and getting a better overall sound. The responses from metal heads and in reviews have been amazingly positive so far. Some even called it the album of the year!
How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
It's hard to find a good description of our style. With ONHEIL we try to do something new and original, but still keep the true metal feel alive. At the moment we call it Blackened Heavy/Thrash Metal... but there is also some (melodic) Death Metal in there. So it's a mix of a lot of a lot of different styles. Expect aggressive, furious, extreme metal that we combine with melody and more classic Thrash/Heavy metal riffs. The lyrics aren't only about extreme storms, the album sounds like a huge fuckin' storm!
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
The album was recorded with Bart Hennephof (TEXTURES) and Yuma van Eekelen (ex-PESTILENCE) and the mastering was done by Tore Stjerna at the Necromorbus Studios (WATAIN, DESTRÖYER666). In the end the whole, writing, recording and mastering process took about 3 years. We wanted to make a high quality album and that takes time!
We did think at a moment that the album was cursed. Guitars broke done, vocalists getting ill during recording, we've got some personal problems, our first master disc got lost in the mail, issues with the artwork and all other shit happened. Luckily we could fix all of that and the album turned out great!
What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
As the album is called 'Storm Is Coming' you can imagine that part of the lyrics are about extreme weather and other destructive natural phenomenons. We were heavily inspired by the footage of tsunami's, earthquakes and tornado's. That brutal force and the evil it brings to it victims, we wanted to capture that in musical form!
It's also what is presented on our album cover. A incredible huge storm that is approaching a city, society!
Inside the booklet of our album we also have a lot of artwork. Actually there is an album cover for each of our 10 songs!
What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
Our main aim is to do more live shows. We already did over 50 shows in the past but we never really pushed it too much. Right now we feel that it's time to change this!
We aren't a band that necessarily aims for success. Our music comes first! We want to make high quality metal! If we become a well know metal band, that's cool. If we stay forever underground, that's also fine.
Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
At the moment the album is only released as a CD and maybe digitally too in the future. No other plans yet.
Where and how will you promote this new release?
ONHEIL likes to do a lot of visually things too, that's why we have such extensive artwork in our album booklets. We also like to do things with video. Here you can find our first music video for this album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Y5wb_NV3TQ . Also we have a nice teaser video that gives you a bit of an idea about how the rest of the album sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaY6QhvvabM . Check out all our videos here: https://www.youtube.com/user/onheilmusic/videos . Besides that we want to promot our album by playing live a lot!
Where can we order it from?
Our album should be available in all record stores and mail order shops. Especially in Europe. If you cannot find it. Get it at: http://www.onheil.com/shop/
