Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Blackened progressive death metal outfit Morost was born in the year 2010 in the marshland area around Ljubljana, Slovenia. Inspiration for the name came from the archaic name for this decaying wetland “Morost”. It is not a band formed by a group of  close friends, but rather a bunch of enthusiastic individuals that met by chance and have become friends while in the band. Peter Frol on guitar and Tomaž Kogovšek on drums wrote most of the songs than Jonas Savšek joined on vocals. It is hard to find a stable and strong lineup and changing band members was a regular problem through the years. Ažbe Planinc on second guitar joined last, as Blaž Zupan decided to surrender. We feel that our group is ready for the third  album and hopefully for many to follow.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music? 
We combine different genres, orientating around morose and darker styles of metal. You can find typical riffs and sound of death, black and doom but we mix all this in a progressive way making for a clean flowing songs with more technical segments, appealing dynamic which leads to unique band style overall...I guess
Our style is influenced by bands like Opeth, Schamasch, Gojira, Emperor, DB among others but we try to find our own sound.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
We don't offer demos, we are looking to make the music best we possibly can, before revealing it.
As for why you should buy an album, this is something we can't and don't want to influence. It’s all available for free online and if you like it you can support us and we will make more of it. Personally I buy music when I find a decent album, and my food budget isn't compromised.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media? 
The self-released debut album Solace In Solitude (2014) received critical praise and was additionally acknowledged for the album’s structure as a whole. After lineup changes and reorganizing, the band entered the studio in 2020. Jan Volkun on drums and bass player Blaž Maligoj joined for the second part of creating this album and both contributed their own color to the final product. Relevant difference for the second album is the absence of synth, for Tamara has left the band and the atmosphere the keyboards provided is replaced with trippy guitar passages. Forged Entropy is a 55min long album, released in 2021, by On-Parole Productions. A lot of work went into making it and we are proud of it. So far it has received positive reviews. We put more effort into recording and artwork with this latest release, the music and its structure evolved and hopefully it can encourage like minded metalheads to accept it as good music.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
After the release of Solace in Solitude the band played its first live gig and successfully impressed the local community. Slovenia has a great metal scene, but being a small country there is not a great number of clubs that allow bands to gain experience. We are on the breakthrough with our booking to visit more of central Europe and Balkan with our short touring expeditions. Our highlights are Metaldays 2018 (newcomer) and 2019 (main stage). We are grateful to organizers of Kaltenbach and Goothom festivals for booking us and giving us a chance to join the greatest live experience a band can have. Sadly due to the current circumstances both festivals were cancelled but we hope for more great parties to come in the future.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
First they should like the music and we need to like their media. After that I think we are well organized and professional to be easy to work with. We believe in our project and put all our effort into it and will continue to do so.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We want to progress, make better music and artistic impression with every album/concert. Our path is not on the side of a fast lane to success with commercial bullcrap, but want to be at the top of the underground, the fresh roots just beneath the surface.
