Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Silent dominion is a one man band, which I created during the winter of 2007. At first, the sound was more depressive but the lyrical themes are the same with todays. Antiquity, Gods, Nature and my hate about Christianity are the main subjects of the lyrics. During that time I was the bass guitarist of Trivial Dogma, a thrash/death metal band which split up in 2010 and of Disolvo Animus which I left for my own reasons. Since then I decided to carry on only with Silent Dominion. Actually you can say that 2010 was like a new start of Silent Dominion, the sound changed and the new basics were put together so I can have the sound I have today.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
I always describe my style as "Pure Hellenic Black Metal” nothing more nothing less. In every new synthesis I write, I try to represent these four words. My main influences are the fathers of Greek Black Metal, (early) Rotting Christ, Tatir, (early) Near Mataron, Kawir, etc. but also from (second wave) Scandinavian Black Metal bands, from which I borrow their cold aura and internalize in some parts with my own way.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
He shouldn’t. If someone says he is a supporter of underground, he should at least check Silent Dominion and if it really represents him then it would be quite good to buy one of my releases that cost only a few bucks so he can help me write more and more staff.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
I have released three demos. A Night With Full Moon(2007), Scars(2008) and Invoking The WorldlyGods(2013). Two splits, TheAncient FlameBurns Eternally(2010) with Faethon and Defending The Ancient Spirit(2013) with Morbid Fog. One EP: Cries Of The Past (2013) and I have just started working on my first full album. I have also taken part in a black metal compilation, Legions Of Black Flames v.1 from Black Candle Records. Also awaiting for a four way split in the next few months together with Human Serpent, Hell Poemer and Thaer Os Valel. The truth is that I see that more and more people that are showing interest for my band and this is what made me start writing the album. The audience might be small but this is underground, few but true. Moreover, I was really satisfied from the reviews I read about my new releases, the reviews were quite good.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
None so far. In the past I tried to find members for live gigs but it didn’t work. Live gigs are not a main priority I have in my mind. Maybe I will try and find some members after the album release.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
First of all because Silent Dominion are true. It is not easy for one person to do everything by himself, synthesis, recording guitars, bass guitar, voice, programming and sometimes even the artwork. And it doesn’t help when the turnover is zero. I am not looking for the support of big companies, magazines etc. actually this is the decay of the "true”. I refer to independent labels, zines and promoters that they really want to support the underground scene. I believe I am worth support and interest from them.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
As I said before, the album is my priority. I believe it will be ready during the summer. I want to see the reaction of the audience and then decide what is best for the future.
