Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
“Silence” is our fifth studio album and was released on Scarlet Records on November 18th 2014. Silence could be the perfect soundtrack for a contemporary horror movie, set in dark cellars, smelling of incense and seeping pain, rage and melancholy. The atmospheres are cryptic and otherworldly, but the mood and the musical approach are strikingly aggressive and concrete. Musically and lyrically ‘Silence’ is an immense and supreme ‘sound-folly’ that celebrates the capriciousness of destiny, the fugacity of life and the eternal presence of darkness in light. It is made of pure emotions, calibrated by awareness and experience. This album represents our maturity as musicians and the highest and most sincere expression of myself as an artist and as a woman. These new compositions are extremely gloomy and sinister, but they give off an explosion of power, intense energies and deep sensations. How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
Well we have a very personal style and it’s hard to classify it. Someone uses to call it Horror Metal. It seems we mix a lot of Black Metal with Gothic atmospheres, without refusing Death and Thrash influences. At least this is what magazines usually tell about us.
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
The first ideas were born in 2012 and during 2013 main riffs were written. I worked on the lyrics mainly between November and December 2013, completing notes, emotions and thoughts written in the previous months. There have been long sessions between me and guitarist Dick Laurent to match lyrics with music, then many series of rehearsals with the band to prepare the pre-production. We entered the studio in May 2014 and until September we made changes and improvements . The album is produced entirely by us , recorded, mixed and mastered in three different studies owned by the band. Hard work but very exciting! We are completely satisfied by it!
What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
The cover feature a clown, a sort of joker. It represents the mocking destiny who plays with our life. The location is something like an old luna-park mixed with a circus. Dramatic and sad. Silence, the title, deals with the lyrics topics and essence…. My lyrics are the result of my reflections, sometimes very agonizing, about what happens in me and around me. The analysis of things, facts and feelings produces a lot of mental noise. When I define my thoughts in a text, this noise begins to fade out and when I read it I reach a higher level of knowledge. When I perform and record what I wrote, my soul can find some rest, it makes peace with itself and finally the silence comes.
