We started back in 2000. 

Me and Raymond, our first vocalist, wanted to start a death metal band. I knew René, our first guitarist and Raymond knew Guido, our first drummer, so that was the start of Aratron.

Soon Raymond left and Ronald joined us, who I knew from a band called Phobiac which we both played in.

We did a couple of live shows and had a good time during those three years, but everyone in the band wanted to play a different style of music and everyone was pushing to play there own musical taste which eventually caused to much tension, and that’s when we decided to quit, because we couldn’t agree with each other about the style we wanted to play.

It was basicly a lack of respect between us. So that was 2002.

Then in 2008, things weren’t going so well with my band Stigma, we didn’t rehearse that much and so I wanted something more and thought about bringing Aratron back to life. I called Ronald and he agreed immediately and Arjan, the drummer of Stigma introduced us to his brother, Arnold who would become our drummer.

We had a few auditions for guitarists, but they all lacked massifly in talent. We played a few months with Snoek, the guitarist from Sobek and later Stigma, but he quit al of a sudden with no reason.

So then I called Tibor and he decided to help us out as a session member.

That’s the history of Aratron in a nutshell. 

The music we play is a mix of death and thrash metal early ‘90’s style, with a slight touch of black metal here and there.

Considering the songwriting, I’m mainly influenced by bands like Overkill, Bolt Thrower, Deicide, Vader, Slayer etc. The standard death and thrash bands basicly.

Because we play a style of music from the days before metal was infected by the disease of keyboards, female vocals, soft melody lines, emocore-hardcore-metalcore-punk-folk-jazz-mellow-lounch and whatever else shitty influences you hear nowadays.

We’ve released our demo called ‘Horrifying Visions’ and it got some pretty good reviews. Only one real bad review, which we don’t take very serious.

Yes, of course! Playing live for on audience is always a rush!

We don’t have that much live activity, yet, we’ve only done two shows with the new line-up, but there is a lot going to happen this summer, probably 5 or 6 shows and some festivals we hope. It’s a matter of knowing the right people and being persistent.

We’re trying to build a fan base and making a name for ourselves and it’s slightly starting to come. 

They should be interested in Aratron because we play metal the way it was meant to be and we have a professional approach in what we do as a band.

Making more and even better demo’s and hopefully a full-length album and of course more live-shows.
